Graduates of the Third Annual Woodbury Citizens’ Academy
Press release from the Woodbury Community Foundation:
The Woodbury Community Foundation (WCF) is proud to recognize the third class of the Woodbury Citizens’ Academy!
What began in 2009 as a group of 25 Woodbury residents and others, has grown to a group of more than 70 alumni who are now actively engaged in our community in a variety of ways. Graduation was held on Monday, April 16, at Eagle Valley Golf Course. The keynote address was given by Dick Hanson, WCF Board Member and 2011 Woodbury Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year.
This program provides a “behind the scenes tour” of Woodbury and is designed to expand the knowledge of citizens and encourage greater involvement in our community. Citizens gain a new understanding of how local public, private, and nonprofit sectors work in their respective areas, as well as in unison, to make the city such a wonderful and positive place to reside.
“We are so pleased with ALL the graduates of the Woodbury Citizens’ Academy,” Hanson stated, “and we encourage them to get involved and do great things for our community.”
The Woodbury Citizens Academy is managed by the Woodbury Community Foundation in cooperation with the City of Woodbury and other community partners. We are very appreciative of the Woodbury Lions Club who was the lead sponsor this year.
“It is truly an honor to have strong partners such as the City, the County, the Lions Club, and all the other nonprofits & businesses in Woodbury for this program,” says Rabin Bell. “We appreciate the time commitment and dedication of our participants and presenters alike.”
Information on the 2013 program will be available in December 2012 on our website www.woodburyfoundation.org.
If you are interested in participating in the next session, please email Alisa@WoodburyFoundation.org. Class enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis and will be opened to those on this waiting list first.
