Royal Oaks Principal Headed to Cottage Grove Elementary
After several years of service to Cottage Grove Elementary and South Washington County Schools, Principal Carl Aegler, is announcing his retirement, according to a release from District 833.
He has been with the district for 19 years, beginning as Crestview Elementary’s Principal. Aegler also held positions at Armstrong, Hillside, Bailey and Pine Hill Elementaries during his service. His retirement will be effective June 30.
The district also announced Theresa Blume-Thole as Aegler's successor.
Currently Blume-Thole is principal at Royal Oaks Elementary in Woodbury, for which she has served the last 10 years.
Prior to her appointment at Royal Oaks Elementary, Blume-Thole was principal at Roosevelt Elementary in Faribault, Minn.
She holds her principal licensure through St. Mary’s University, a Master of Education in Teacher Leadership through Winona State University, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa.
She will be making the move to Cottage Grove Elementary July 1.
“Carl’s commitment to education was positively reflected throughout Cottage Grove Elementary,” said Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education Dave Bernhardson. “We wish him much success and happiness in his future endeavors. Theresa’s continued excellence will be a great fit for the school and community. Her passion and dedication to education has inspired staff, students and families alike.”
More Changes
Assistant Principal Dennis Roos, of East Ridge High School, has announced his retirement after 13 years of service. He began with the district as principal at Woodbury Middle School, for which he served 10 years. His retirement will be effective June 30.
“I would like to thank Carl and Dennis for their service to South Washington County Schools,” said Superintendent Mark Porter. “Their will and dedication throughout the years has been inspirational. The administrative changes we are making, will strongly lead us into the future, helping us achieve our mission of igniting a passion for lifelong learning.”
Recent discussion has also taken place to reassign school administration for growth and development opportunities. Individuals were asked to consider similar assignments across the district.
District administration then considered the development of the entire organization and made adjustments to some Assistant Principal assignments.
The result is the following set of reassignments, effective July 1:
- Park High School Assistant Principal Rob Bach will move to Woodbury High School in the assistant principal capacity.
- Woodbury High School Assistant Principal Sarah Sorenson-Wagner will move to Park High School in the assistant principal capacity.
The process of filling the Assistant Principal position at East Ridge High School and the Principal position at Royal Oaks Elementary will begin immediately, the release says.
