THE SAM ROBERT LAVINE SCHOLARSHIP ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

The Sam Robert Lavine Scholarship organization is accepting applications for this year’s $2,500 award. Applications are available at the East Ridge High School’s counseling office.

Completed applications are due February 28, 2013 and should be mailed or delivered to the school’s counseling office.

2013 graduating East Ridge High School seniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, who plan to attend an accredited college or university in 2013 are eligible to apply. Selection is based upon academic accomplishments, school activities and community involvement. Preference will be given to candidates whom intend to study mass communication, advertising, and/or marketing and exemplify strong moral values. The scholarship recipient will be announced at East Ridge High School’s award ceremony in May.

The Sam Robert Lavine Scholarship, a 501(c) 3, memorializes the infant son of Eric and Jennifer Lavine (Woodbury) who died in November of 2008. The $2,500 award is granted annually through 2027, the year in which Sam would have graduated.

“We were so impressed with the caliber of candidates that we received the last two years. Woodbury’s young people are truly inspiring! We are thrilled to be honoring another graduate again this year.”
