Woodbury High School student David Schommer recently won a Prudential Spirit of Community Award.

He was honored on Sunday during the 17th annual State Awards Ceremony in Washington, D.C.

During the ceremony, Schommer met with Super Bowl-winning quarterback Eli Manning.

He also met with U.S. Sen. Al Franken.

"Community service is a great way for people of all ages to make a real difference in the lives of others," Franken said in a statement. "David Schommer's work to bring light to important causes in his community is an inspiration, and I commend him on winning this award."
