BBQ Competition Coming to Woodbury Sam’s Club
No barbeque will be sold at Saturday’s event… but there will be samples and a big cooking demonstration at noon.
Who has the best barbeque in Woodbury?
The competition just got a little hotter.
Thirty teams from across the country have descended on the Sam's Club parking lot for a professional barbeque competition.
People will be able to check it out from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at the grocery store’s parking lot, said Troy Black, series director for the Sam’s National BBQ Tour.
The teams will not be selling food, he said, but there will be samples available.
Black, who has 27 state barbeque titles, will give a noon demonstration on how to cook pork, chicken, ribs and brisket, the four categories in which the teams will compete. He said $10,000 in prize money is up for grabs.
The judges come from Kansas City Barbeque Society, which is sanctioning the competition, Black said.
