Best Buy Mobile Store to Open in Woodbury
The electronics giant expects the store to open in October.
Best Buy officials on Monday confirmed that the electronics giant is planning to open a Best Buy Mobile store in Woodbury.
The new store is scheduled to open in Tamarack Village in October, a company official told Patch.
Best Buy Mobile stores offer a wide range of mobile devices—phones, tablets, eReaders, ultrabooks, MP3 products and related accessories—and sell products from nine carriers.
Technical support is also available, and Best Buy Mobile employees receive a minimum of 80 hours of training and “ongoing education on mobile phone technology, applications and trends to help customers make the most of their mobile,” according to a fact sheet provided by Best Buy.
The company launched the Best Buy Mobile platform in 2006, and as of July 19 there were 351 such standalone stores in the U.S.

Apologies to any Best Buyers in the reading audience, but over the last few years BB has really been doing its best to disinterest me. The people, when you find them, have been solid, but the merchandise just hasn't been dependable.
Disappointing to pay $40 to BB for something and have it work sporadically for about 3 months, then not at all...and then go to an office store, buy a similar product for 1/3 of the price and have it work for 3X as long (and still going.)
If that was an isolated case, that'd be one thing, but it's been with the last 3 items that I've bought there. I'm not really an internet buyer, but the only way that I go there is if I can't find it at another local store.

I always hear that people use Best Buys as a showroom, then go home and buy stuff online.

There's no incentive to buy at BB vs. buying the same product over the internet.
I understand why people go to the Apple stores to buy (hands on opportunity to try out the product, genius bar, in-store customer service before and after the sale, classes on how to use the software, etc). BB does not do well at offering these value added services in the store.

I'm a big "brick and mortar" store person, myself. I'll search online, read reviews, price shop, but when it comes to the time to purchase, I'm usually impatient and want to pick it up that day. There are exceptions (notably things that I might not be able to get locally).
I guess I'm a retail Luddite.

I like the New Best Buys. They are changing to what they call a connected store. They are doing a remodel on a lot of there stores. So that you can get hands on training with there product before and after there purchases. I have been to the new Richfield store and man is it nice. Then Oakdale store is in the process right now to change into that kind of a store. Can hardly wait to see it, when it will be done.
