Blasting Underway for New Woodbury Well
The new well is being constructed at the intersection of Valley Creek Road and Settlers Ridge Parkway.
Crews over the next four to six weeks will use explosives to create a cavity at the bottom of Woodbury’s newest well.
Monday’s blasting was complete by about 10 a.m., crews at the worksite told Patch.
Over the next 4-6 weeks, there will be another nine or so “blasting events, each comprised of about 10-12 shots per day around 20 minutes apart using up to 20 pounds of explosives for each shot,” reads a notice from the city’s InTouch system.
The drilling of well No. 18, at the intersection of Settlers Ridge Parkway and Valley Creek Road, was completed the week of May 14.
The blasting will usually occur between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., reads the InTouch notice, and area property owners were informed that a “thump” with each blast may be felt up to a couple of miles away.
The city says it will closely monitor the blasts to ensure no nearby homes are damaged.
