Brief: Two Woodbury Businesses Fail Latest Tobacco Compliance Check
The Public Safety Department conducted 10 compliance checks recently.
Two Woodbury businesses failed recent tobacco-compliance checks conducted by the Public Safety Department.
The department conducted 10 checks on Sept. 13. (In April the department performed tobacco-compliance checks on 13 establishments and they all passed.)
When a business fails a compliance check, the employee who sold the alcohol or tobacco is charged with a gross misdemeanor or misdemeanor, respectively. Police have the option of issuing a warning or $500 citation to the offending business.
The Public Safety Department tries to check every alcohol- or tobacco-selling business in Woodbury once a year.
During the past winter there were a high number of failures.
