South Washington County Schools on Tuesday outlined the timeline for its superintendent search while also asking for feedback from the community.

On its website, District 833 posted the coming process for finding a new superintendent; late last year the school board opted not to renew the contract of Superintendent Mark Porter.

The site also includes a joint letter from school board members to the community.

The letter says the consultants (School Exec Connect) the district hired to help find a new lead administrator “will meet with board members, district employees, parents, students and community members, individually and in focus groups, over the next couple of weeks to determine the challenges, strengths, goals of our district and what characteristics or skills you would like to see in a Superintendent.

“Additionally, our staff and community members will have the opportunity to give confidential written feedback to the consultants via our web site. Using this information, we will develop a profile of the skills and characteristics desired in the next Superintendent,” the letter continues.

There is an online survey available for residents to provide their thoughts about the district. Comments will be accepted until Friday, Feb. 24.

School Exec Connect will host two upcoming community meetings:

• Monday, Feb. 13, 7-8 p.m. in the Board Room of the District Service Center, 7362 E. Pt. Douglas Road, Cottage Grove.
• Tuesday, Feb. 21, 7-8 p.m., in the Woodbury High School Group Room, 2665 Woodlane Drive, Woodbury.

The district plans to recruit nationally for the superintendent position through April, and the school board plans to interview five or six candidates on May 5, winnowing the list to two or three for final interviews May 8-10, according to the letter.
