Three members of a local electrical-workers union were holding up a large sign at the entrance to Tamarack Village on Monday.

Their issue?

A Wisconsin company, Faith Technology, that doesn’t pay its electricians the same wages as those required by Minnesota unions, said organizer Bill Malecha.

The group, members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers No. 110, was in town on Monday because Faith Technology electricians were working at the Woodbury JCPenney. Malecha said they recently held a similar protest at a St. Paul company.

“We just want to inform the public,” he said. “Let’s keep Minnesota jobs for Minnesota people.”

Malecha said the group does a lot of community outreach, from free work for veterans groups like the American Legion and VFW, to its efforts with Habitat for Humanity and the Holiday Lights in the Park event.

“We’re always out in the community trying to do positive things,” Malecha said.

They protested outside our buildings on Friday, at the St Paul Pioneer Press. I would imagine they will move on somewhere else tomorrow.

Define "exploiting". I'd get paid different wages if I worked in other states - or even for other companies in the same state. That's pretty normal.

Yeah, I don't see how they can get a Wisconsin company to pay wages of a Minnesota union.

What's wrong with union workers wanting decent benefits and a decent livable wage. If you are so smart learn how to spell.
