Woodbury will have another addition to the self-serve frozen yogurt game this summer.

Freeziac is looking to open this June in the former Blockbuster location off Valley Creek Road, co-owner John Mallon told Patch on Thursday.

It follows the recent opening of CherryBerry at Tamarack Village.

Mallon said the lease was signed last week and Freeziac will take over a portion of the space. Reconstruction will likely begin in a month and Freeziac will open 6-8 weeks later, he said.

Freeziac gives customers the chance to create their own frozen treats, with options ranging from fresh fruit and nuts to candy and hot fudge.

“You build your own sundae,” Mallon said. “It’s that experience that makes it so fun.”

The other co-owners are his wife Joanne and Randy and Janel Ketteler Carmody, longtime Woodbury residents, Mallon said.

The Woodbury location will be the sixth for Freeziac, and Mallon said 10-12 people will be hired, with more workers employed there during warmer months.

Freeziac will have a “coffee shop-type environment,” he said, with comfortable furniture, music and wi-fi availability. The cost of the concoctions goes by weight: 45 cents an ounce.

As for his favorite, Mallon said if he just wants a snack, he goes for a smaller serving of yogurt with fresh fruit, usually raspberries.

“If I want to indulge a bit, I like to build a banana split,” he said.
