Gator Goes Missing, Found At Woodbury Golf Course
The resident keeping the alligator as a pet was given a citation and told police he was looking for a new home for the animal.
Now that’s a water hazard.
A four-foot, 20-pound alligator went missing from a Woodbury home July 3 and was found the next day in a pond at Prestwick Golf Club.
The alligator was being kept as a pet by a resident at the 9600 block of Wedgewood Draw, according to a police report. A neighbor called police July 4 after spotting the alligator and told authorities it was in a pond near the 10th tee.
Police arrived to find the gator’s owner looking for the animal, and he told officers it escaped from his home the evening of July 3, according to the report.
Officers told Prestwick staff about the alligator and left contact information but the animal wasn't immediately located.
The owner and his wife admitted to keeping the alligator as a pet for the past three years, according to the report. Neighbors also said they’ve seen the couple with the animal for the past several years.
The man was given a citation and he assured police he would find a new home for the alligator.
