Letter: Democrats Should Stop Meddling and Save Us Some Money
Woodbury resident Linda Stanton outlines why people should cast their votes for Republicans.
A look at the facts:
1. We had a $5.6 billion projected deficit in 2010, when the Democrats were running the show. The fiscal conservatives elected have turned that around dramatically so that in 2012 we have a $1.2 billion surplus.
2. Democrats vehemently oppose constitutional amendments, or so they say, when it comes to bills like voter ID and the marriage amendment. They lament, staunchly "defending" the integrity of our constitution, yet they pushed and got the Legacy amendment, which guarantees spending in our constitution. So, it’s only OK to have a constitutional amendment when it suits the Democrat spending obsession?
3. A proposed health insurance exchange creates another government program that competes with our private market—the same private markets that work for cars, homes, groceries, Lasik eye surgery, etc. Are Democrats really that blind to the fact that free markets work, and that expanding private market competition in healthcare will force healthcare costs downward, while keeping quality high?
It just makes good fiscal sense that during these tough economic times, we should stick with the winning Republican team of Ted Lillie, Andrea Kieffer, Pam Cunningham and Kathy Lohmer.
