McDonald’s, Great Clips, Waxing, New Restaurant: Woodbury’s Commerce Hill
Work is underway at the site near the Woodbury SuperTarget.
Construction on a new 8,000-square-foot retail building is underway near the Woodbury SuperTarget, and leases have been signed for 80 percent of the space.
European Wax, Vivie Nails and Great Clips are set occupy the structure once it’s built, said Paul Maenner, partner with MW Development. They are expected to open in late spring 2013.
There have also been discussions with a restaurant for a fourth tenant at the building, he said.
“We’ve got some excellent momentum going there,” Maenner said. “We’re really pleased with how the market is responding.”
Meanwhile, McDonald’s is planning to build a free-standing restaurant at the Commerce Hill site, he said.

MW Development is also working on a project that would see another retail structure built north of SuperTarget, Maenner said.

So, Woodbury developers are going to just keep opening new hair and nail salons until none of them are profitable? Sounds similar to the cities housing development strategy.

I did search for Vivie nails online and I think they might do waxing too.

Seriously, another McDondald's? Don't we have enough fast food? The Woodbury City Council is a joke. Make it attractive for restaurants like PF Chang, etc., to come to Woodbury. Just look west to Maple Grove on how to plan retail development.

More reasons to continue driving to Afton, Stillwater and St. Paul for dining. Strip mall restaurants with stunning views of parking lots or freeways and fast food just aren't attractive options.

Chihauhau Chocolates was supposed to go in there too. Maybe they got fed up with the wait. I don't think we need another nail salon certainly and the wax place is also going in there. A better fast casual restaurant like D'amico or Cosi would be nice since Woodbury Lakes can't ever seem to get those types of restaurants!

Lakes Tavern is decent though. And there's a new restaurant coming in at Woodbury Lakes this winter too. http://patch.com/A-yvZY

I agree with all the above - Woodbury can't seem to stop adding low end everything / housing, grocery, restaurants. There are other people here too - that would love to see some good restaurants, better clothes shops, etc like the West side has

Maybe if we are lucky we will get another Fantastic SAMs or a mattress store to go in there! Note the sarcasm! The city of Woodbury has got to start working with independent retailers that want to open nicely decorated unique shops! This is becoming comical! We need unique retail and food establishments....a great wood fire pizza and wine bar would be great in the old Tinucci place.

I think Punch Pizza would kill in this town.

Punch is coming to Woodbury. It is going to be in the space divided by Kinko's. Will have a nice outside patio too on the Valley Creek side and behind.

You people have no clue. The city doesn't pick the businesses it is the other way around. There is not enough daytime traffic on the East side of town to support the daytime sales needs of the kind of businesses that you keep mentioning. It is demographics and geographical considerations NOT the city counsel that drive those kind of businesses to choose where to open. Plus the ridicuosly high wages and business taxes put in place by the great liberal state of MN that make it almost impossible for lower sales foodservice locations to make a profit. Call your DFL legislators and blame them.

I have to agree about the nail parlors we already have more than enough of them in Woodbury. I know the city isn't out searching for them rather they come to the city asking to set up shop, the city really needs to stop saying sure you can have a nail shop to every tom, dick or harry that comes to them. They really should ask the general population what kind of retail they would like to see come to the city.
Regarding building a new McDonalds they really need to have another one on the other side of Woodbury to help relieve some of the strain on the current one, I personally would love to see McDonalds come in over by Sam's Club and Kick Burger King out. I hardly ever see Burger King very busy at least the one over by PDQ except for at lunch time and even then there not nearly as busy as McDonalds. It's about time McDonalds comes to that side of town.

I have no problem with McDonalds on other side of town and agree with too many nails and hair cutting places. But those business are paying rent and taxes so that is good and creating some jobs. Also, I would of loved to see a Texas Roadhouse at the old Woody's site and a Golden Corral over by SuperTarget would be nice

Isn't there a waxing place going into the old dental location at Citywalk too? How many of those are needed? Is Woodbury the location of the last Sasquatch siting?

Kris, Lakes is fine if you have time but it is not in a convenient location while shopping. And another sushi place is a joke. Just what moms pushing strollers want for a place to take their toddlers to lunch. NOT!

Somebody asked on our Facebook page about Chevy's coming to Woodbury. Anybody heard that rumor?
