New Restaurant: Sole Mio Opens in Woodbury
The Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Italian restaurant at the Valley Creek Mall.
Angelo Montes said he was emotional and excited.
“I’m ready to serve the community,” he said.
Sole Mio Ristorante, a new Italian restaurant, opened today, Monday, Oct. 15, at the Valley Creek Mall in Woodbury.
It has been a long and sometimes difficult construction process for Montes, owner and chef, but he said he’s pleased with the space.
“The restaurant turned out beautiful,” Montes said before a Woodbury Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting.
Hundreds of people came for the soft-opening events over the weekend, Montes said.
“The food was phenomenal—everybody said it was great,” he said, adding that staff also performed well.
The former Mi Familia space has been completely renovated and the menu includes steaks, seafood and pasta, and more than 100 wines are available, Montes said.
Mayor Mary Giuliani Stephens said it’s always nice to have a new restaurant open in town, but it’s fun to have one owned by a Woodbury resident.
Montes has lived in Woodbury for about 13 years and has numerous accolades as a chef.
Sole Mio is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. For more information, visit the restaurant's Facebook page.

Was going to hit this place up for lunch today. Anybody been there yet? How was the food?

I went last night with my family to celebrate my birthday. I was looking forward to see what the buzz what about. I am very dissapointed. I never thought I would say this but I've eaten much much better and received much better service at The Olive Garden. Mr Montes (owner and chef) was very focused on tending to the big tables and completely ignored the rest. The server had no clue when it came to wines or the food and did not bother to find someone that knew either. My daughters and my husband were not impresed by the food or the desserts. For a better experience, service and flavor I rather go to I Nonni or La Grolla. Sole Mio is over priced, the food is just blah and the menu is very limited.

You are quite opinionated, ever worked in the service industry? Really, Olive Garden is better, no wonder you do not understand "real " cuisine. Stay with Olive Garden, it is "watered down Italian" for typical Americana palates!!!

My family and I really enjoyed our experience here. The food we ordered was delicious! Our 7 year old son LOVES the meatballs...and he is a picky eater. The atmosphere was beautiful. Yes, you can tell the staff is still getting use to the wine and menu selection but with a little time I have no doubt the servers will all become experts. Excited to go again!

I'll have to get a listing up for Sole Mio. But remember that you can rate and review most businesses in our directory: http://woodbury.patch.com/directory

Cool LA. The two-year anniversary of Woodbury Patch is coming up and I was thinking of trying to put together an event there.

I agree with being disappointed. Keep in mind many of us in Woodbury are always complaining that we have few dining choices except for national chains. Unfortunately based on our experience at this establishment on a Saturday evening two weeks ago those complaints will continue. The service was terrible. It took 15 minutes for our appetizer but then another full 50 minutes for us to get our entrees. By this time the restaurant was only 1/2 full. All our poor and inexperienced waitress (we had to help her open the wine) could do was keep coming back to us saying things are backed up in the kitchen. Once the food did come one of the dishes was cold, and the food was at best average. Maybe we were there on a bad night but before we would go back we better hear some much more positive reviews
