Open House Scheduled for Valley Creek Road Project
The road will be reconstructed from Bielenberg Drive to Woodbury Drive this summer.
Residents will get the chance to learn about this summer’s major Valley Creek Road rehab project at an open house slated for July 11.
The roadwork—set to begin sometime in July—will go from Bielenberg Drive to Woodbury Drive. It will be reconstructed with mill and concrete overlay from Bielenberg Drive to Interlachen Parkway, and mill and asphalt overlay from Interlachen Parkway to Woodbury Drive.
The roadwork is expected to run through September.
The open house is set for 4-7 p.m. July 11 in the Ash and Birch conference rooms at Woodbury City Hall, 8301 Valley Creek Road. No formal presentation is planned.
Regarding traffic: In the concrete pavement section, one side of Valley Creek will be closed at a time, with two-way traffic switched to the side of the road not being worked on, one-lane each direction, according to the county’s webpage on the project. Access to all business and residential areas will be maintained. However, it may be restricted at times depending on where the contractor is working.
The mill and asphalt overlay will be constructed under traffic with flaggers on either side of the work area. Northbound and southbound Radio Drive will be closed for a short duration while the pavement is replaced in the intersection of Valley Creek Road and Radio Drive.
The project will also include replacing broken storm sewer pipes, improving the accessibility of pedestrian ramps according to Americans with Disabilities Act standards and guidelines, and upgrading the traffic signal systems along the corridor.
Project details, set to be updated today, June 21, are available on the Washington County website.
