A group of beer delivery drivers on Tuesday were protesting proposed changes to their contract outside Hohenstein's in Woodbury.

Union leader Larry Yoswa said health care coverage and changes to the structure for delivery commissions are among the problems they have with the proposed changes to the group’s contract.

Fourteen members of the Teamsters Local 792 have stopped working in protest, Yoswa said. The contract is reworked every three years, he said.

Company officials at Hohenstein's had no comment.

Hohenstein's is a local beer and wine distributor for retail stores, bars and restaurants.

What is the health care coverage and wage / commission structure provided currently? I beleive the two parties just met on Aug 7- seems pretty aggressive to walk off the job just 3 weeks later in an economy where so many dont have a job.

im not really buying the stink you are trying to cause "rick" you obviously dont have your facts straight or have had to ever work for anything in your life. never had to fight for what is right. if you want to make up names and misinform the public or mislead them for your own cause have them come on down to hohensteins. from what ive seen there are plenty of people down there that have facts... just met on the seventh? there were seven meetings. Im sure you knew that just like you knew there was a meeting on the seventh when the columnist/writer never mentioned a thing of said meeting.

Not sure Rick. I didn't think people would want to wade through the particulars, just figured I'd find out what they were protesting. Sounds like you're fairly plugged into this situation though.

paul whackernutz...... is it odd that you are acting completely oblivious to what happens in your community? is it odd that you have the same profile picture as the owner of the ever so profitable Hohensteins? if you want to know what products you may look them up on facebook or talk to your local liquor store or bar. if any one of you feel inclined to help your common man during these hard times to think wisely before purchasing

When I went inside for a comment I recall a few posters of good beer on the walls, but the only one I can remember is Hacker Pschor. (sp?)

Steve, have lived here for 30 years and never heard of this joint. With 14 employees it doesn't sound like a large enterprise. As for the owner sharing my profile picture, obviously he must be a man of taste and character.
