Report: Mark Porter to Lead School District in Florida
The outgoing superintendent is heading to a Florida Keys district, accoring to keysnet.com.
Outgoing District 833 Superintendent Mark Porter will be the new head of schools in a Florida school district, according to a report.
The advertised start date is Aug. 1, with a salary of between $125,000 and $150,000, according to the story on keysnet.com.
The South Washington County School Board last December opted not to renew Porter’s contract. He had spent 32 years in the district.
The board has selected Dr. Keith Jacobus to take over; he starts July 2.
Porter beat out three three other candidates for the job in a 4-1 vote by the Monroe County School Board, the keysnet.com report says.

The Key's gain is District 833's loss of a leader of integrity with a passion for performance excellence. I would much prefer to see the five school board members who voted not to renew his contract heading permanently to the Keys.
