Updated: New Italian Restaurant Coming to Woodbury’s Valley Creek Mall

The rumors have been swirling for some time.
A new restaurant is coming to the Valley Creek Mall, building management has confirmed to Patch.
Angelo Montes, chef at the Chianti Grill in Roseville, is set to open Sole Mio at the mall and plans a $1 million renovation that includes a new bar, patio, fireplace and windows that open, according to a Pioneer Press report.
Montes is close to signing a lease for a 6,000-square-foot space at the mall, said Steve Wellington, president of Wellington Management, which manages the building. The lease hasn't been signed yet, but Wellington said he expects it to happen within a week.
"This will be a high-quality casual family restaurant with great authentic Italian food," he said.
Solo Mio would be the second Italian restaurant to open in Woodbury in recent months, following the addition of Carmine’s at the intersection of Valley Creek Road and Woodbury Drive.
The opening of Solo Mio also marks the continuation of several recent changes at the Valley Creek Mall, including the newly expanded Snap Fitness and Ace Hardware, and Tropical Ballroom’s move to another space at the mall.
Montes told the Pioneer Press that he moved to Woodbury from Italy 12 years ago.
"This is my community, and I will do everything I can to support it," Montes said. "And with my Italian charm, I will give everyone a good time."
The restaurant is set to open on or around July 1, Wellington said.
