Jim Caverly is bicycling across the country as part of an effort to raise $30,000 for C.O.P.S., which supports families of police officers who died in the line of duty.

The retired FBI agent was in Woodbury on Friday with his wife Jeanne, who has been driving along with Jim since the 69-year-old dipped the back tire of his bike in the Pacific Ocean along the Oregon coast in May. He’s hoping to finish up in Maine in October, close to Jim’s 70th birthday.

The couple has worked as grief counselors with Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.), a nonprofit that also saw Woodbury officers contribute to its mission in May.

While in Wodobury they planned to get some repairs at Eric’s Bike Shop and do some shopping before heading out on the road again.
