Safe Stolen From Woodbury Liquor Store

Four men broke into Elite Liquor Wine and Spirits early Saturday morning.

Four men broke into a Woodbury liquor store and stole a safe at about 1 a.m. Saturday morning.

The perpetrators pried open a door and one man carried off the safe, which contained cash and some coins, said Sev Poser, manager at Elite Liquor Wine and Spirits.

“They came in and within two minutes they were out of here,” Poser said.

The culprits were caught on surveillance footage during the Dec. 24 incident, Poser said.

The thieves did not steal any alcohol, said Cmdr. Jay Alberio of the Woodbury Police Department.

Poser said the liquor store was also broken into two years ago.

I wonder if stealing a certain amount of liqour would then involve the BATF, which would make it a federal crime instead of your garden variety smash-and-grab?

I could very easily be wrong, but that's the only reason I can think of that you don't grab the safe AND a few bottles to toast the season.

Not sure, but that's a good point Eric. It did seem odd that they didn't grab any booze.
