Do you have photos of the snow? Upload them to this post.
Schools were closed, plows were out and snow was still falling Tuesday morning in Woodbury.
The city had been under a winter storm advisory from the National Weather Service, and snow was steady at about 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 5.
Classes were canceled Tuesday in District 833, and several other schools in Woodbury were closed. The Math and Science Academy was closed.
A notice from South Washington County Schools:
South Washington County Schools will be closed today. All morning activities (including Kids Club) are closed today. An announcement will be posted no later than 3 p.m. regarding afterschool and evening activities.
All employees are expected to follow previously determined school closing procedures and advise their supervisors of their status relative to a day off if they choose not to report. Teachers will be provided information at a later date regarding the make-up time for this snow day.
Despite the snow, Central Park and Lookout Ridge were open as scheduled, according to the Facebook page for the Woodbury Parks and Rec Department.
Meanwhile, the snow was expected to continue during the day Tuesday. According to the National Weather Service:
Today: Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 29. North wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.
Tonight: Scattered flurries before 9pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 9. North wind 5 to 10 mph.

I drove around a bit this morning, but didn't see many accidents or anything. One sign over by CityWalk was knocked down though.

Somebody just sent me a photo of a 24-inch snowfall from December 2010. Also, the Liberty Ridge Battle of the Books is cancelled. (A makeup date has not yet been set.)

From the Math and Science Academy this morning on school being closed yesterday:
1. If District 833 (South Washington County) is closed, we are. They do our bussing and it is in their hands. Whether we appear on the scroll at the bottom of your T.V. or not, if they are closed, we are.
2. WCCO radio and T.V. is the best media place to check.
3. Call the school; there will be a message left on the machine.
4. Check the website.
5. Check your email. If you have signed up to receive listservs, you will be notified by email.
...
So, the make-up day will be added at the end of the school year. Instead of ending June 5 we will have the last day of school on June 6.
