Suspect Arrested on Suspicion of Burglary in Woodbury’s Homestead Hills
One resident was home Wednesday afternoon when the suspect tried to enter her house.
An individual was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Woodbury on suspicion of burglary.
Police got the call about a suspicious situation in the city’s Homestead Hills neighborhood at about 12:30 p.m., said Woodbury Police spokeswoman Michelle Okada.
As of Wednesday afternoon, police were unsure whether the suspect gained entry to multiple homes, she said, and authorities were still deciding what she may be charged with.
The person was arrested along Greenbriar Lane, in the neighborhood near the Bielenberg Sports Center. A homeowner called police about the individual, Okada said.
“Kudos to the resident,” she said. “It’s nice when the neighbors are looking out for each other.”
The homeowner who called 911 said she saw someone try to open her front door and then go around and try the back door. She spoke with Patch on condition of anonymity.
The person, a female, was “impeccably dressed,” said the Homestead Hills resident, who was working from home Wednesday.
“It was very strange,” she said.
(Police could not confirm the suspect’s gender.)
The homeowner watched the woman try the doors of neighbors’ homes and stayed on the phone with police as officers arrived.
“This is a very quiet neighborhood,” she said, and residents look out for one another.
She saw officers coming down the street and watched them pull their weapons and start running. She did not see the arrest.
“It was a good adrenaline rush for the day,” she said.
