Update: Police Believe Suspect May Be Connected to Other Woodbury Residential Burglaries

A woman was arrested Wednesday in Woodbury’s Homestead Hills neighborhood.

Police believe a woman arrested in Woodbury’s Homestead Hills neighborhood Wednesday may be tied to other residential burglaries in the city.

Investigators are “still trying to figure out how extensive those connections are,” said Michelle Okada, Woodbury Police spokeswoman.

The suspect, Christine Celeste Burtman, will be charged with two counts of attempted burglary and a count of possessing burglary tools, along with a parole violation, Okada said.

She was arrested along Greenbriar Lane a little after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23.

Okada said on Friday that an observant resident was key to police making the arrest.

“Kudos to the resident,” she said Wednesday. “It’s nice when the neighbors are looking out for each other.”

The homeowner who called 911 said she saw someone try to open her front door and then go around and try the back door. She spoke with Patch on condition of anonymity.

The woman was “impeccably dressed,” said the Homestead Hills resident, who was working from home that day.

“It was very strange,” she said Wednesday.

The homeowner watched the woman try the doors of neighbors’ homes and stayed on the phone with police as officers arrived.

“This is a very quiet neighborhood,” she said, adding that residents look out for one another.

She saw officers coming down the street and watched them pull their weapons and start running. She did not see the arrest.

“It was a good adrenaline rush for the day,” she said.

PiPress had a story on this yesterday. Here's something: According to state criminal records, Burtman has six previous convictions, the most recent a felony conviction for financial transaction card fraud in August.

This is just one of many things that Christine Celeste Burtman whose real name is Sharon Burtman has done. For years she has been shoplifting, steeling from freinds, family and employeers. She has had credit cards in her brothers names, her mothers name and her daughters name. She has also tried to take out cards in her fathers name after he died. She also has had numerous DWI,S. Some of her more recent scams is trying to get people to invest in a socalled business that she says she has a then she gets personal information from them and the opens card in their names. She has also gone to several churches or individuals stating that she has cancer and then they feel sorry for her and give her money. Whithin the last year she was going around her own neighborhood saying she was collecting for the American cancer society. When people would ask who to write the check to she would say she didn't know so they would leave it blank and then fill in her name and take the cash. If you think that Burtman has done anything to you I suggest that you contact the woodbury police department.

Since my last comment on January 28, I've learned from numerous individuals that they were victims of Sharon Burtman. If she was at their home for a party or picking up her child, she would say that she needed to use the bathroom, and then she would turn on the light, shut the door, and enter their bedrooms and steal either jewelry or cash. She was also entering people's homes asking if she could take pictures for a school project and then steal jewelry and cash. If you think this could have happened to you, I urge you to contact the Woodbury Police Department.

Since my last comment on February 1, 2013, I have been contacted by numerous people letting me know that Sharon Burtman had been in their house. These people were either friends or family. Each one of them had similar stories. Either Sharon had stolen jewelry or cash from them, even from children that were friends of her daughters. The reasons these people would not report it to the police is that most of them didn't now how to deal with it or they were embarrassed about it. I continue to urge every one that thinks that this could have happened to you to contact the Woodbury Police Department. I think that if she is not convicted of these crimes and locked up for a long time, she will continue to commit crime and that her crimes might evolve to armed robbery, bank jobs, or who knows what she is capable of.

Sharon Burtman is on probation until 2018 for using her 12 year old daughters name since she was born to acquire credit cards. Before her arrest on January 23, 2013 she was on some kind of house arrest. Now she is in jail for robbery. What will it take to put her away for a long time. If she gets out, she will not stop. No amount of theropy will change her, she is and will be a thief and lier for life.

I would like to apologize for what I said about my sister on Monday. There is a way that she can change. She needs to turn to God and ask Him to forgive her for her sins, only then will her life change.
