The warm weather Monday might have you fooled, but it’s Christmas tree season, and here’s the rundown for where you can get a live tree locally.

Valley Creek Mall

Wolcyn Tree Farms and Nursery began selling fresh-cut trees, wreaths and spruce tips at the Valley Creek Mall starting the day after Thanksgiving, with new trees arriving regularly from its farm in Cambridge, Minn.

“Every week we get a fresh load of trees,” said Clint Wolcyn, part-time worker and son of owners Tom and Adie Wolcyn. “Which means these trees have been cut only a day or two before they’re put on display.”

The Wolcyn lot offers a range of tree sizes and types, including Frasier, Balsam and Canaan. Trees are priced per foot and tied for free.

This is the third year the Wolcyn family has sold fresh-cut trees in Woodbury, and the 44th year they have been in business, Wolcyn said.

The Wolcyn family tree lot is open at Valley Creek Mall through Saturday, Dec. 22. Hours are Monday-Friday, from noon to 7 p.m.; and Saturday-Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Oakdale

Fresh-cut Christmas trees and wreaths from Bork Tree Farms in Hinckley, Minn., are being sold by the Men’s Club at Guardian Angels Church in Oakdale.

Trees are sold per type, starting at $32 for white pine, and are tied and placed in bags for free.

Proceeds from tree sales go toward hosting social events and church maintenance projects as needed, said Men’s Club member Mike Knutzen.

“It’s a very active club,” he said. “We have events going on all the time.”

The Men’s Club Christmas tree sale started around 20 years ago with 50 trees. The sale now features more than 300 trees, Knutzen said.

The Men’s Club at Guardian Angels Church is open Saturdays and Sundays the first three weeks in December. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A little bit of a drive (Lake Elmo) but a much nicer experience than a parking lot. http://kruegerschristmastrees.com/

You can get trees from the Rainbow Parking lot in Cottage Grove. They are Borks Trees. Very nice quality and selection.

Thanks Nicole! Hey, somebody asked me the other day about Buell's Landscaping:

Drove by there today and the storefront is completely empty and cleaned out. I know technically that's in Hastings, but thought you may have heard something.

I know the two things aren't exactly related.

I think that Gerten's took over Buell's.
