2012 Woodbury Patch Readers' Choice Winners

Patch was on a mission to find the best of the best in Woodbury.

We asked users to nominate and vote for your favorites in the city in several categories. The votes are in, and we're happy to announce the 2012 Readers' Choice winners!

Food and Drink

It was a tight race for Best Breakfast. Keys Café won over the Woodbury Café by just two votes. Keys Café landed 41 votes while the Woodbury Café brought in 39.

Classic Pizza won the race for Best Pizza by a landslide. The popular pizza spot brought in 77 votes. The next closest was Carbone’s with 33 votes. Pino’s, DeLeo Bros. and Rocco’s rounded out the category.

By just one vote, Lakes Tavern and Grill took home the title for Best Burger in Woodbury. Only three votes separated the group, which included Wild Bill's, O'Malley's and Ray J's.

When it comes to the best bartender in Woodbury, Victor at Carmine’s won our Readers’ Choice poll. Victor landed 25 votes followed by Nicole from Carmine's and Chuck from Sunsets.

Known for its wings, Ray J’s wins the Best Appetizer category with 21 votes. Lakes Tavern and Grill was close behind with 19 votes, followed by Carmine’s and Wild Bill’s.

When it comes to a wooing a loved one, Woodbury voters said Cravings was the place to go. The restaurant brought in 22 votes, with David’s Chophouse and Sunsets trailing.

When it comes to a quick meal after work, Yang’s is the place to go. With 50 percent of the votes, the restaurant takes home the title of best takeout place in Woodbury. Angelina’s Kitchen and Thanh Truc tied for second with 14 votes, followed by Duc’s Vietnamese.

It was a tight race for Best Sushi in Woodbury. Asia Bistro had 16 votes, just three more than Sushi Tango.

When you’re leaning back and someone has sharp instruments in your mouth, Woodbury Dental Care is the dental office in Woodbury people trust. Next was Salute Dental, and a distant third was Woodlane Family Dentistry.

Fill ‘er up! Woodbury Patch users said they prefer Kwik Trip. A close second was Holiday, with BP and PDQ bringing up the rear.

Auto Works Automotive Service Center dominated the voting for Best Place to Get Your Car Fixed in Woodbury. Metric Auto Works and Car Care Muffler & Brake were a distant second and third, respectively.

When you need that special something... A Whimsical Place was the winner for Best Gift Shop in Woodbury. Kiln Kreations was the other entry in this category.

Anniversary? Mother’s Day? This is the spot. Flowers on the Park won for Best Florist in Woodbury. Sweet Pea’s Floral was the other entry.

Hudson Road Animal Hospital was the winner for Best Veterinarian, followed by Carver Lake Vet Clinic and Valley Creek Road Animal Hospital.

Another competition, another win for ChiroWay. Coming in second for Best Chiropractor in Woodbury was Lifeline Chiropractic, with Schmidt Chiropractic Clinic in third.

Among several entries in this category, Postal Credit Union took home top honors. There weren’t many votes for others here.

  • Best Pediatrician: Dr. Daniel Khoury

This was almost an in-house competition for Central Pediatrics, with Dr. Daniel Khoury securing the top spot, followed by Dr. Shelly Strong.

When it comes to Best Day Care, just one vote separated Peace of Mind and Primrose School of Woodbury, but the former was the winner. Stepping Stones came in third.

This was clearly the most hotly contested competition, but Woodbury Dance Center won for Best Dance Studio. DelMonico Dance Studio came in second, and Tropical Ballroom was third.

Our only tie! Life Time Fitness and Uplift Guided Fitness can both be called winners in our Best Fitness Center category. It was a close race, with Xperience Fitness and Core Power Yoga not far behind.

  • Best Salon: Trendi Salon and Spa

You asked for this category, and we got plenty of votes in a tight race for Best Salon in Woodbury. But Trendi Salon and Spa edged out Salon Ultimo by four votes. Spalon Montage and Juut were the other entries in this category.

Woodbury Cleaners beat Dapper Duds for Best Dry Cleaner.

A close race between Great Harvest Bread Co. and Dorothy Ann Bakery and Café, with Great Harvest winning by a mere seven votes out of 81.

In our final category suggested by Patch users, Glimpses of Soul barely beat out Ten Tiny Toes Photography.
