Woman Charged After Police Bust Group Allegedly Stealing Mail in Woodbury
Woodbury police last winter issued a warning to residents about an increase in mail theft in the area.
A Roseville woman has been charged with felony aiding and abetting mail theft stemming from a December 2011 incident in Woodbury.
Lori Ann Grimm, 35, was among four people stopped in a van following a Dec. 9, 2011, tip about mail theft at the 7700 block of Havenwood Circle, according to the criminal complaint.
Inside the van, police found mail from at least nine people, Social Security numbers from eight people, ID from at least nine people and washed or altered checks totaling $9,000, the complaint says.
Last winter Woodbury police issued a warning about an uptick in mail theft in the city.
In an interview with police, one of the individuals who was in the van admitted the group was driving around stealing mail from mailboxes, according to the compliant.
If convicted on the felony charge, Grimm faces up to three years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
