Woodbury City Councilman Paul Reblohz on Wednesday announced that he will run for a third term.

“I enjoy it,” he told Patch. “And I want to continue to be involved in what happens as we continue to build the community.”

Rebholz, 48, who has lived in Woodbury for the past 20 years, said the city has done well in its strategic vision over the past several decades, but noted that there are several important projects ahead, in particular the reconstruction of the Bielenberg Sports Center and the mixed-use development slated for the southwest corner of Radio Drive and Bailey Road.

Some parts of the city are aging, Rebholz said, and he wants to ensure those residential and commercial areas “remain strong.”

Also, the city will face challenges at it works to provide a high level of services as the economy continues to rebound, Rebholz said.

Asked what strengths he brings to the city council, Rebholz said, “I ask a lot of questions.”

“I’m not afraid to ask questions and ask about the other side of the equation,” he said.

He said he wants the council to maintain a “thoughtful process” as it deals with city business.

“That’s how you get to the right answer,” Rebholz said.

Some of that includes citizen task forces that draw on the strengths of the city’s residents and engage people in the governmental process, he said, noting the groups formed for the Eagle Valley Golf Course and the Bielenberg expansion project.

A current Woodbury Lion and member of the Woodbury Chamber of Commerce, Rebholz also spent six years on the city’s Economic Development Commission before he was first elected, and served on the chamber board for seven years and was chair in 2001.

Rebholz is married with two sons. He has worked at Wells Fargo for the past 26 years, working with cities, counties and school districts.

Overall, Woodbury has done well to maintain a strong vision for its future, and implement it in a thoughtful way, he said.

“Woodbury has done that for its entire history and it’s why we’re a desirable place to be,” he said. “If you’re going to live in the east metro, Woodbury is the place.”
