Woodbury Election Results: Susan Kent Wins in Senate District 53 (Updated)
The DFL challenger beat incumbent Sen. Ted Lillie.
In the most closely contest legislative race in Woodbury this year, DFLer Susan Kent beat incumbent Sen. Ted Lillie for the Senate District 53 seat, according to the unofficial results from the Secretary of State.
Kent notched 52.13 percent of the vote (22,781 total) to beat Lillie, who will finish out his freshman term before she is sworn in this January.
Lillie, who had been tabbed as a rising leader in the Minnesota Republican party, had 47.73 percent of the vote (20,857).
Woodbury is entirely within Senate District 53.

Congrats Susan Kent!
This is huge along with BOTH houses of the state leg swinging back to DFL control. Patch seems to be missing this incredible story. We haven't had all DFL control of state government since 1990! Somehow this story is being overlooked. This was a referendum on the shutdown, gridlock, and waste of time Republican constitutional amendments. The people have spoken and they want our state to get back to doing REAL business for the people.

People are overlooking something very important. We as Democrats, should not have supported the Vikings Stadium taxpayer subsidy.
We believe in helping the poor, but we made the rich even wealthier. Sports are not educational, nor productive for Minnesota, and yet we seemed to care more about making millionaires richer.
I feel we have our priorities messed up.

Hi Isaac, I respectfully disagree with your statement. The revenue that the new stadium will generate will be a tremdous boost to our state economy. And it will create jobs, and help those programs in place to help the poor. I am a bleeding heart dem.
