Organizers are raising funds to support the American Cancer Society through three promotions.
Pink "Royals vs. Cancer" shirts are being sold for $10 at the school (100 percent of the profits from these shirt sales will go to the ACS). Remaining pink shirts will be available for sale at the game on Wednesday night.
During fifth period on Tuesday, Oct. 16, WHS is conducting a school-wide donation drive.
“If every student at WHS donates $5, we will be the top donating high school in the state of Minnesota,” reads a notice from the school.
During the football game on Wednesday night, there will be a 75-second “Bucket Drill,” which will see freshmen football players racing through the stands with ACS buckets and collect donations. (The 75-second interval is in recognition that in Minnesota, every 75 seconds someone is diagnosed with cancer.)
The goal for the week at Woodbury High School is to raise $5,000.
For those who would like to make a donation to the campaign, checks can be made directly to the American Cancer Society and deposited at the game.
Wednesday's game also marks Senior Night for the 2012 football, band, cheer, dance and ROTC groups. The Royals play Forest Lake.
