Woodbury Girls Soccer Advances To State

The Royals hope to win the school's sixth Class AA state title

The Woodbury girls soccer team is headed to the state tournament.

Kristina White scored both goals as the Royals topped Mahtomedi 2-1 in overtime in the Section 4AA tournament on Tuesday, earning a spot at state for the ninth time in 10 years.

Woodbury (16-3) lost just three times during the regular season and entered the postseason winners of nine of its last 10 games—including three straight shutouts. The Royals defeated Cretin-Derham Hall 3-0, East Ridge 3-2 and Mahtomedi 2-1 in their section run.

Woodbury has won five Class AA championships and has three runner-up finishes in its history. Its last championship came in 2008.
