About a month ago, the Woodbury Proex Portrait was set to close.

Now, the Minnesota stores are under new ownership.

“We will be staying open,” said Paul Emmel, manager of the Woodbury Proex.

Several longtime customers were upset when news came down that it would close, Emmel said. The Minnesota stores were to close as part of a court-approved bankruptcy liquidation after Ritz Camera & Image failed to find a buyer for the chain, the Star Tribune reported in September.

A celebration marking the new ownership and the Woodbury Proex staying open will likely be held in November, Emmel said.

He also pointed people to the store’s Facebook page for deals and specials.

The store, located at 1575 Queens Drive in Woodbury, is hiring, as well, Emmel said.

It's open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Wow - That's great news! I've visited that store so many times over the years I thought I would have to find somewhere else to have my prints and family pictures taken. Nice to hear some positive news for a change.

Yeah, folks were pretty worked up when it was going to close.

I'm so glad. Will they keep their same name? Also, I tried the Facebook link but it doesn't work.

The link died for me too Kim. Maybe something happened and they are closing after all. I've got an email in to the store manager.
