Katie Churchill wasn’t pleased with people not picking up their dogs’ leavings in Woodbury’s Bailey’s Arbor neighborhood.

So she left some notes for neighbors.

Good for Katie! Nice colors for the signs, too. :-) Cute dog! Have there been any improvements, I wonder? Dog poop along the walking trails in winter, goose poop in summer.

Not that I didn't chuckle jeanine, but I had to delete that comment for profanity. For those wondering she said it was "some funny (crap)."

Please add the trails around Wilmes Lake to the list. It's really a very small minority of dog owners. We live right on the trail and the majority bring a bag and clean up. A few, however, will even leave the cr__ right in the middle of the sidewalk.

Good point Mike. To me, it seems like it's just a few people who never do it, rather than different folks forgetting a bag from time to time. I could be wrong though.

Considering the potential for dogs passing their parasites to humans, you are being a good citizen to clean up after your own dog, but always remember, there is no one to pick up after the stray dogs, coyotes, foxes, etc. You might even consider picking up one extra on each walk to help with those "unowned" canine friends as well.

I always pick up and I have even be yelled at from a kitchen window to "pick that up" as my dog is "busy". I held up my bags in hand and smiled :) How I'd like to yell out the window but I won't go that far.

Leashes as well - city ordinance requires a leash any time a dog (or cat or other domestic animal) is beyond the owners' property. Same ordinance requires owners to clean after their animals beyond the property (and I don't think simply bagging it and leaving the bag counts). This is for heath and safety reasons, as well as quality-of-life issues.

As a dog owner, I do carry bags when walking my dog to clean up after him. And I leash him.

You can add Markgrafts lake to your list of dog offenders to...
There are times when a dog owner may be caught a bit off guard - we used to only take one bag but often found half way around the lake you'd need another - but there are even bag stations provided over by City Walk. Its part of owning a dog!

That is a good MPR article! And Michael, I agree, I could do a better job at picking up random piles left by other dogs/animals. My plan is to go out early on this spring and grab as much as I can with a pooper scooper.

You can add Timberlea Park to the mix as well. We have one homeowner that thinks since they live on the park and have a dog its their own personal exercise yard and their dog can just run freely to do its business.

We have the same issue around our area on the sidewalks and then in some of our common grass area's. It is not hard to pick up your dog crap! You can even get poop bags really cheap on E-bay. If you can not pick up your dog Crap you should not be able to have a dog. Thank you Katie!

How do you broach the topic with neighbors? I swear once a week there's a "neighbor dispute" in the police reports related to this.

Somebody did mention here that it could be from a coyote or something.

Woodbury needs to get the Community Service officers out of their trucks and onto the trails issuing tickets. It won't take long for the word to spread...people will start picking it up as long as Woodbury enforces the ordinance.

I actually tried to track down the ordinance on the city's site yesterday. But I don't imagine it would be too illuminating.

Katie, did you also send those photos to our association? We have made complaints to no avail..Maybe if more people send them concerns. I can't understand with all the bag stations... plain lazy! I agree if you can't take care of your dog... don't get one! Sorry to see it is not just our area... irresponsible, lazy people.
