Woodbury To Hold Truth In Taxation Hearing Wednesday

The city’s tax levy for 2012 is expected to remain flat; hearing set for Wednesday night at City Hall.

The Woodbury City Council on Wednesday is expected to approve the city’s 2012 budget and tax levy.

The levy amount will not increase over last year’s rate, the first time in two decades the city has been able to do so. (Once the preliminary rate is set, the city can only decrease it.)

The proposed 2012 budget is expected to increase 5.1 percent from 2011 to just more than $64.5 million.

Residents will have the opportunity to react to the proposals during a Truth in Taxation hearing during the meeting, which is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at City Hall.

Other items on the agenda…

  • A closed session to discuss a personnel matter.
  • Likely approval of solar panels for the recently expanded Public Safety building on Radio Drive.
  • Likely approval of committee and board appointments (there were 43 applicants).
  • Likely approval council member appointments for various bodies.
