A daylong series of skating events is scheduled at the facility at Ojibway Park in Woodbury.
Woodbury installed new equipment at the skate plaza at Ojibway Park last October. So far this spring, it’s been popular. “It’s been packed every day there hasn’t been snow on it,” said Reed Smidt, Woodbury recreation specialist. A celebration of the skate park is set for Saturday, May 18. The event begins at 10 a.m. and will run into the evening, Smidt said. The day kicks off with the opener for the 3rd Lair Summer Series Competition. “It’s the Little League of skateboarding,” Smidt said. The series is held at several locations across the Twin Cities each summer, and Woodbury is hosting the first event this year, Smidt said. The day continues with several other activities, including: The event is open to everyone and is free to attend, …

It quickly moved to speeches invoking personal feelings and relationships surrounding the…

The Woodbury City Council discussed the concerns at Wednesday night’s meeting.
Residents of Woodbury’s Eagle Valley and Wedgewood Shores neighborhoods have contacted council members about issues with cut-through traffic related to the Woodbury Drive project. Councilwoman Amy Scoggins broached the topic during Wednesday night’s Woodbury City Council meeting. While picking up a daughter’s friend near the project area recently, Scoggins said she could barely back out of the driveway. “This could be really bad if people keep cutting through,” she said. Woodbury Drive is closed from Park Crossing to south of Lake Road, the northern part of the project, which will be completed first. Plans call for the road to be expanded to four lanes from Park Crossing to a quarter mile south of Bailey Road. Mayor Mary Giuliani Stephen …
Both Woodbury representatives said yes to the same-sex marriage bill on Thursday afternoon.

Kieffer posted a note on her Facebook page Friday morning: Before I vote on any legislation, I consider my principles, the people I represent, and then politics. Two years ago we had the “marriage” debate on the House floor, and I voted to put the amendment question on the ballot: I voted politics over my principles, and I justified it by saying “let the people decide”. Well, they decided. The vote in the district was 43% in favor of defining “marriage” in the constitution. That leaves 57% telling me they don’t want the constitution to define “marriage”. However, I wanted to be extra sure about this result, so instead of …
