Washington County Authorities Seeks Public’s Help to Identify Grave Vase Thieves

About 50 brass flower vases were stolen from Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mahtomedi.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is trying to track down whoever stole about 50 brass flower vases from a local cemetery.

Deputies were called to Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3400 Century Ave., in Mahtomedi about the theft on Monday, Aug. 19.

The vases were taken from gravesites sometime between Aug. 17-18, according to a release. The vases have different styles, but all are 10 inches in height and four inches in diameter.

Each vase was reported to be valued at $200, the release says. Officials have no suspects at this time.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has contacted area recycling centers in an effort to determine if the thieves tried to sell the vases for scrap. County authorities are also in touch with their counterparts at other metro agencies about the crime.
