Woodbury Native Kassey Kallman a Finalist for Women’s Soccer Award

The winner of the 2013 Senior CLASS Award will be announced in December. Kallman attends Florida State.

Woodbury native Kassey Kallman, who attends Florida State, is one of 10 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award for women’s soccer in 2013.

The award recognizes student-athletes for achievements in four areas: community, classroom, character and competition.

Kallman, a captain, has helped the Seminoles to an unbeaten through their first 15 games (12-0-3) and has 81 career starts in four seasons at Florida State with 22 points on eight goals and six assists.

In the classroom, Kallman is majoring in business management and was named a second team Capital One Academic All-American in 2012, becoming just the second Seminole in program history to make the list. The defender is also a two-time first-team Capital One Academic All-District honoree.

Kallman has been named to the ACC All-Academic Team in each of her first three seasons at Florida State and is a two-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll. She has also been named to FSU’s President’s List twice and made Dean’s List honors on two separate occasions.

Kallman has also volunteered in Tallahassee and Minnesota at a variety of organizations.

Nationwide fan voting will help select the winner of the Senior CLASS Award. People can vote online through Nov. 25 on the award website and on Facebook.

Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I head coaches’ votes to determine the winner.

The 2013 winners will be announced during the 2013 NCAA Men’s and Women’s College Cup championships in December.

CLASS is an acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School.
