Schedule Your Next Workout… Then Check it Off Your List

In our hectic lives of fall activities, kids back to school and kids sports make sure to take time and make and appointment for yourself... here's a workout to help you get started.

Now that school has started back up and fall activities have piled up on top of that, it is when I usually hear people start to complain that they no longer have time to workout or that they are too tired by the end of the day because their calendar got full.

It is so hard in this busy world to take time out and take care of ourselves first before taking care of everyone else.

But does this really make sense?

As I recall when I am on a flight and the attendant comes out they remind us to take the oxygen FIRST before handing it to your child (I think it goes something like that… because I am usually too busy getting settled in or wanting to read my book that I don’t listen).

What has helped me with this busyness and lack of time for myself is to plan out my exercise for the week. Put it on your calendar as an appointment and let people know that you have a commitment at that time. It is just as much a priority as anything else on your schedule.

Start slow if you have to, 1-2 times per week. Don’t set yourself up for failure and book something for everyday of the week… you will just get overwhelmed.

To help you out, I have thrown together a quick full body workout that you can finish in 30-45 minutes (depending on how many time you repeat it). So take out your iPhone, blackberry or laptop and make an appointment to workout and BREATHE your oxygen first.
