Why Ride the Cart When You Can Walk the Course?

Grab your clubs and head to the local golf course... and walk.

Today I had the opportunity to go golfing with some girlfriends. Our schedules miraculously lined up to make this happen.

We headed over to a great little executive par 3 golf course and grabbed our bags and went.

It was a beautiful Minnesota morning and we could not get over how great it was to be getting some exercise and enjoying such a pretty course. Why would someone ride a cart on this smaller course and not get a little exercise in on top of swinging those clubs?

So why walk?

The number of calories you burn in any exercise depends primarily on your weight and the intensity of the activity. For example, a 190-pound man who pulls his golf cart should burn around 431 calories an hour, while someone who weighs 130 pounds would burn about 295 calories. If you play for four hours, the average time to play 18 holes, the numbers can add up to more than 1,000 calories.
