If you travel on westbound I-494 on the Wakota Bridge between Newport and South St. Paul, you should be aware of lane and ramp closures starting at 6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 27.
Westbound I-494 between Bailey Road and Hardman Avenue will be reduced to two lanes while crews continue to seal the bridge deck. At the same time, the Maxwell Avenue ramp to westbound I-494 will close. The westbound I-494 ramp to Hardman Avenue is already closed in connection with this work.
The posted detour will direct you to use eastbound I-494, westbound I-94 and westbound I-494 to bypass the closures.

MnDOT is planning to re-open the lanes and ramps by 5 a.m., Monday, Sept. 30, as long as the weather cooperates. The sealant used on the bridge cannot dry if we get rain or cooler than expected temperatures.
