A Few Favorite Things About Woodbury Days

Woodbury residents comment on what keeps them coming back to the annual city get-together.

While thousands of Minnesotans were visiting the State Fair, an equally enthusiastic crowd gathered at the 2011 celebration at .

The Jani family has been enjoying the city's annual city for about five or six years now, according to Arpan Jani. They enjoy seeing “,” said Arpan. “We like the freebies—it makes things more tangible. And we enjoy what the kids like.”

“The rides! Going up the rides!” said 6-year-old Shlorel Jani.

His 4-year-old brother, Shaarv, agreed, enthusiastically making driving motions.

“It’s a good family outing,” said Arpan.

Vrunda Jani said the family usually enjoys the and bandshell events.

“We also like seeing the ,” said Arpan.

For Mona Scott—a vendor who helped with the Noah’s Ark Stuff–N-Fluff Animal Workshop, sponsored by Central Pediatrics—the overall feel of the event and its "cleanliness" keep it fun.

“And the food I like," she said.

Amber Ellingson, a mom of two kids, agreed:  “Our favorite part is the food, the Saturday night entertainment, and the fireworks—and we really appreciate the end-of-the summer community event. It’s a nice way to wrap things up.”

“I like the rides,” said her daughter, Hailey. “And I kind of like the food.”

Gailey’s little brother Oliver excitedly held up a fluffy stuffed cow he had just created at the Stuff–N-Fluff Animal Workshop.

“We always do the —it’s not a Woodbury Days event, but it takes place with it on Sunday morning,” Amber said. “It’s a 5K, and I like how they let the kids participate.”
