Each year, Minnesota FoodShare holds its March campaign—the largest food drive in the state.

And at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Woodbury, where Pastor Jon Larson challenged parishioners to participate, the food-collection effort was impressive.

Nearly 400 bags were dropped off at the church.

“This was the largest weekend collection the church has ever had,” reads a release from King of Kings. “What a wonderful way to support those in need.”

Locally, the Christian Cupboard Emergency Food Shelf benefits from the annual campaign.

Some of the most-wanted food and necessity items include: peanut butter, 100 percent fruit juices, canned tuna, dry beans, canned meats, rice, flour, sugar, vegetable oil, laundry detergent, bath tissue, diapers and baby formula.

The effort will help restock almost 300 food shelves across Minnesota.

The FoodShare collection at King of Kings continues through March 31 and anyone may drop off non-perishable food items at the church. For more information contact the church office at 651-738-3110.
