Lake Road/Courtly Road Will Be Paved Tuesday, Now That Water Main Breaks Have Been Fixed

A water system malfunction caused the breaks, according to the City of Woodbury. The final water main break should be repaired by the start of business Tuesday.

Update, 9:30 p.m. Nov. 18: Water has been restored in the area of Lake Road and Courtly Road, according to a news release from the City of Woodbury.

The area where city crews were working to fix the main will be paved on Tuesday.

"That means westbound Lake Road will continue to be closed through the Tuesday morning rush hour," according to the news release. "Westbound traffic on Lake Road will be detoured away from the area via Woodlane Drive. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes. Surrounding streets will be open to local traffic only."

There may be additional leaks around the city, caused by the water main issues.

"If you see water bubbling up on the streets or identify soft spots in your front yard, call Public Works at 651-714-3720," the city news release said. "Also, take the time to do a visual inspection of your home or business. Check bathrooms and areas near water heaters for water. If you identify a leak, shut the water off to the appliance and make any repairs needed. Clean up any water to prevent further damage."

Original post, 1:30 a.m. Nov. 18:
Some Woodbury residents and businesses have been without water since Saturday night.

Residents began reporting water main breaks about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release from the city. City staff believes the control system malfunctioned and sent high-pressure water through the system, which caused the breaks.

“We apologize for any inconvenience the water main breaks and disruption in service may have caused our residents and businesses,” said Klayton Eckles, Woodbury’s Engineering and Public Works director. “We are taking the appropriate steps to help ensure that it doesn’t happen again.”

The breaks are in the following locations:

  • Lake Road and Courtly Road
  • Esther Lane and Meadow Lane
  • Leyland Trail and Leyland Court
  • Sycamore Trail
  • Sumac Way
In the Lake Road/Courtly Road area, "repairs will impact Monday morning traffic in the area," according to the city news release. "Westbound traffic on Lake Road will be diverted away from the area at Woodlane Drive, where there will be a detour to allow for water main and street repairs. "

The city is looking for other breaks, as well, to make sure none are missed. City water is safe, the city news release said.

Water is expected to be restored to the affected area by Monday afternoon.

If you have a question about the water main breaks, contact the Woodbury Public Works Department at 651-714-3720.
