Woodbury Celebrates 2013 Night to Unite

One of the city's largest Night to Unite events is held annually at Evergreen West Park.

“Relish, mustard, ketchup.”

Ward, a member of the neighborhood association’s board, was one of dozens who came out for the annual community-building event.

Woodbury Public Safety had about 40 spots on its list for Night to Unite 2013.

Evergreen West Park has one of the most ambitious of Woodbury’s Night to Unite spots, with inflatables, balloons, face painting and an ice cream truck to go along with the standard fare of hot dogs and Cheetos.

The neighborhood has held the event the past six or seven years, said Ward, who helped organize this year’s festivities.

“It’s really community development,” she said. “Getting to know each other. Families enjoying watching their kids play. Getting out of their usual routines. I think this is the closest thing we have to the Fourth of July.”
