Home Cookin' Concert

The East Metro Symphony Orchestra (EMSO) provides a variety of unique and accessible orchestral concerts to east metro audiences throughout its September-May concert season, most of which are created in collaboration with other local artists and ensembles.  An annual highlight in the concert lineup is our Home Cookin’ performance, featuring members of the orchestra in solo or small group performances.

Our Home Cookin’ concerts were created to give members of our orchestra family the rare opportunity to step to the front of the orchestra, performing as soloists with the orchestra and in small, chamber ensembles.  This is a unique concept, especially for a community orchestra, and gives us the extra opportunity to highlight all of the many talents and accomplishments of the avocational musicians who comprise our orchestra family.  EMSO members come from a wide variety of backgrounds, ages, occupations and life styles.  Most have studied their instruments since they were young students, and everybody in the orchestra has a unique story to tell about their relationship with music.  This season’s Home Cookin’ concert will have the orchestra accompany members who will perform violin and piano solos, and duets of trumpets and clarinet/bassoon.  In addition we will present chamber ensembles representing our string, woodwind and brass sections.  It is truly delightful to see and hear so many members of the orchestra “strut their stuff” for this unique concert program.
