Toe Tapping Worship Service at King of Kings
Join with us as the Barbary Coast Dixieland Show Band will once again fill our Sanctuary with knee slapping-toe tapping music at the 8:15 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. worship services.
The Barbary Coast Dixieland Band has been together since 1967 and was elected to the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame in 2001. They have been rated among the finest entertainers in the Midwest. The band has played everywhere from the Mississippi paddlewheel boats and the Minnesota State Fair, to Nagasaki, Japan.
Made up of six talented musicians who play 18 instruments, the band is led by left-handed banjo/guitar player Dick Petersen. Members of the band include Tom Andrews on drums, clarinet, and vocals; Jim ten Bensel on trombone, cornet, drums, and vocals; Russ Peterson on trumpet, trombone, sax, clarinet, flute, bass, and vocals; Steve Pikal on bass, trombone, and piano; and, finally, Dick Ramberg on piano and clarinet. This group of versatile musicians, who occasionally swap instruments on stage without missing a note.

In 1984 the band began playing in worship services and have participated at churches throughout the nation. The band's commitment to this Musical Ministry usually involves 40 to 42 Sundays annually.
