River City Chorale Announces Summer Concerts

The group, with members from Woodbury, Stillwater and Hudson, is gearing up late July shows.

The River City Chorale on Monday announced plans for its fourth annual summer concert.

“A Choral Tapestry” will include two performances: 7 p.m. Monday, July 23, at the Performing Arts Auditorium, and then again at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, at the bandshell in downtown Hudson.

This year’s concert will present a variety of choral music, including folk songs, spirituals Broadway musical revues and more.

“There are different styles and genres of music which I’m sure the audience will enjoy, just as much as the chorale does singing them,” Andrew Haase, founding artistic director and conductor, said in a release.

An arrangement of Stephen Foster’s Oh Susanna!, Shenandoa and a musical medley from the Broadway musical Guys and Dolls will be among the featured music.

This concert marks the fourth year of The River City Chorale, which began back in 2009 as the Hudson Community Choir.

Haase said he especially excited about this year’s organization.

“This year marks our fourth anniversary of providing quality choral music to both audience members and singers in the St. Croix River Valley,” he said.

This is also the inaugural year of the formation of the chorale’s Board of Directors. Haase in the release said he is confident that with the board’s vision of financial stability and growth, combined with his artistic and musical plan, that this organization will be available to all singers of the St. Croix River Valley for years to come.

The 150-plus member of the chorale hail from the communities of Hudson, Stillwater, Woodbury, St. Paul, New Richmond, Baldwin, River Falls, Afton and Menomonie.
