Severe Weather for Washington County

The National Weather Service says "a couple tornadoes cannot be ruled out today."

The National Weather Service this morning issued a hazardous weather outlook and a flood advisory.

According to the hazardous weather report, thunderstorms will move across central Minnesota today.

"The strongest of these storms will produce hail up to one inch, along with heavy downpours," the National Weather Service said in its report. "The severe weather threat increases this afternoon and evening. ... Even a couple tornadoes cannot be ruled out."

In addition to warning about damaging winds, the National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for Washington, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey and Scott Counties.

According to the flood advisory, rainfall rates could reach two inches per hour.

"Excessive runoff from this storm will cause minor flooding of small creeks and streams," the National Weather Service said in the flood advisory. "Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely."
