Spring Break Without Telling The World

Maybe people should just drop the phone, spend time with family, and sip Shirley Temples without telling the world exactly what they're doing every second of their spring break.

The final bell rang for many of us this week, sending us into a stress free week off of school.

But as soon as that final bell rang, people were clogging Facebook and Twitter with statuses and photos off the tropical destinations they are heading off to.  Even after these people post statuses such as "off to Florida!", they continue to post while there, saying things like "sitting by the beach—paradise!"

Maybe people should just drop the phone, spend time with family, and sip Shirley Temples without telling the world. Posts such as these lead to jealously amongst teens, and even adults. By people who are "stuck in boring Minnesota" posting things such as "have fun everyone on vacation while I'm going to be bored."

It sounds cliché and I know you guys don't want me to tell you "great things to do in Minnesota on your staycation," but maybe just seeing a movie or hanging with family will create unforgettable memories and bond you closer.

So the next time you have to break the new to your family that you're not going anywhere for spring break, just be sure to suggest a "staycation."

And who knows—maybe you'll even have something Facebook worthy to say about that.
