Local Filmmaker’s ‘Senior Year’ Has Just Begun

Joe Carlini's senior year of high school may be over, but his version of "senior year" is just taking off.

I spent a majority of Summer 2012 as an extra in local filmmaker, Joe Carlini’s production of ‘My Senior Year.’ After waiting a few months to see my face on the big screen, the highly anticipated movie was released to a few at the St. Anthony Main Theatre in Minneapolis. Although it’s still in post-production, the movie is put together in a professional fashion that left audiences in awe. The film centers around high school senior Brian Robertson, who has been on the truck-driving road alongside his warm-hearted father all his life. After butting heads with his father about going to a public high school, he agrees and Brian now wants a senior year he will never forget. He soon meets a group of friends who seemingly guide him through the year. The movie progresses, shaping into a film worth remembering. The film’s soundtrack effortlessly guides the audience through, while the script rolls easily off the actors’ tongues. This film is sure to captivate audiences, as it did those who were able to see the latest cut. It includes many messages that are important no matter where you come from. Whether the film is being viewed by a parent or teenager, it will have the same effect and make you roar to see it again. Hopefully this movie hits the big screen soon, and if does, I will have the privilege of being able to point out my pink shirt that pokes out in a few scenes.
